Marianne Nguyen

Marianne is the Director of Government and Regulatory Affairs at Sun Life. She leads government relations and advocacy efforts to encourage governments to increase Canadians’ access to mental health supports and to empower employers to create psychologically safe and healthy workplaces.
Marianne has extensive experience in public policy and strategic communications. She served as Senior Policy Advisor to former Ontario Finance Minister Charles Sousa where she spearheaded significant policy initiatives, including the then biggest provincial investment in Canadian history in mental health and addictions services. Marianne has also helped craft and implement four provincial budgets. Prior to that, she worked in progressively senior roles in communications in both the public and private sector.
Marianne is passionate about social transformation initiatives that promote equity, diversity, and inclusion. She is a co-chair of the Sun Life Pride Network Canada, and a mentor in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Toronto program. Marianne also previously served on the Canadian Chamber of Commerce’s Council for Women’s Advocacy Working Group, and as Secretary and Chair of the Policy and Governance Committee on the Chinese and Southeast Asian Legal Clinic Board.
Marianne holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Waterloo.
